It is common to think that the increase in the value of an apartment depends mainly on the timing of the purchase, but an examination of transactions made in recent years shows that the location is no less important.

In June 2014, two apartments were purchased in Bat Yam: One, a 3-room apartment on 2 HaZayit Street, was sold for NIS 935,000. The street is in the east of the city, and is considered a less sought after area. The second, a 4-room apartment at 4 Haneviim Street, was purchased for NIS 1.1 million. The apartments were sold in June.

The apartment in Zeit was sold for NIS 1.3 million, yielding its owners a profit of 40% of its cost (6% per annum). The apartment in Neviim was sold for NIS 1.74 million, yielding a profit of 58% (8% per annum) for its owners.
